Another Off-Blog Duty had to be fulfilled in front
of a close group of people at the International Academy of Film and Television in Antwerp ( IAFT). I had to welcome people with a 10min
speech to open the fashion show for VAN GORS. FYI: Van Gors is a company
based in the Netherlands that makes handmade bowties and other accessories for men & women , with a major focus
on sustainability, quality and affordability.
Public
speaking is a real thing now for me. It's a skill I practiced a lot at school. But in reality it's always so different because you talk about a topic you are passionate about. In my case it's fashion & blogging.
This time I was talking
about my blog, the evolution of men's fashion and my link with Van Gors. I made it my tradition to go talk to the guests afterwards for some feedback
and to socialize. I was glad to hear all the positive reactions from the guests. In general the guests found my speech honest, to the point and adding an extra value to the show. OOOOH YEAH, that was fulfilling.
Because it was a very young crowd I went for a casual men's style. Sometimes that's the best thing to do. Remember: when you're presenting something to a specific crowd , make sure they can relate to your personality or style. That's the reason why I did go too dressed up. It would've been too much of a difference If I had worn a suit & suit. Instead I just wore a dressed pants + basic grey shirt and my comfy Adidas x Stan smith sneakers.
